Last Dance

07 September 2005 was when i started to write on the blog. Well, all good things come to an end. My passions have changed, and it's time to just move on.

Next week I will start a new sem in NIE, reading educational psychology this time. Hence, I would have to mug!

My thoughts for BJ will still run. But as usual, you shall see me fading in and out, due to school commitment.

Day Breakers' Nite

The Breakers and stayers met over dinner at soup restaurant. No one actually care much about the food. It was the round table that fitted all of us, as well as our chats, that really made the night special.

The four guniang breakers are in different workplace now. Flower gotta do night duty for ND this year. Nut is adjusting with her work at Ghim Moh, experiencing leaking pipes on top of her cubicle. Cookie has the most caseload among all of us. And xiaolu is in the midst of motherhood.

It's a pity that Breakers UK, xiaolu and samosa were not there. But, We had a good time

Change

Recent changes in my life....

My work. The long awaited promotion finally came. Remembered that i told BK that i will resign if I am not recognised this year. Yeah....

My studies. I made a decision to change my specialization from counselling track to educational track. I wanted to learn new things....

Am glad that things turn out the way they are now.

FELINE REQUEST

Baby Tiger aka Chilli Padi has been bugging me with a feline request. She wants to adopt a kitty!

What shall I do? Tell her she is too young to care for a kitty?

I am driven nearly crazy by her liao....

She asked LJpa. He said "NO". She asked me, "Why can't I adopt a cat?"

Any clues??

Passions with Fruits

Fruits are such an important part of my life.Growing up in East Malaysia, my father's home was like an orchard.

We had jambu, nangka, kedondong, rambutan, pomelo, kuini (indian mangoes), mangoes, custard apple, soursop, durian, limau kasturi, calamansi lime, tangerine, guava (big and small), starfruit, passionfruits, papaya and banana. My brothers and I picked passionfruit, climbed trees and plucked rambutans, made calamansi drinks using home grown calamansi, and enjoyed ourselves. The rambutan tree, till now, still stands tall. LJpa once climbed that tree.

Now that I had moved to a concrete jungle, I criticised fruits sold at stalls. Either the rambutans do not look fresh, nangka kept too long, bananas not ripe, and the list goes on....I simply love fruits. Even temperate fruits. Because of my obsessions in fruits, I find mixing fruits in food an interesting combination.

And this starts my journey into delicious fruits in food!

Chicken Stew

Last night I started creative cooking. I cooked a simple and nice dish - Chicken Stew. I love stews with plenty of root vegetables because they can make a meal with chicken, and they can serve as a main dish.

The ingredients:
8 chicken wings, cut into small pieces
2 large potatoes, diced
8 baby carrots
2 onions, diced
1 small can button mushrooms (halved)
8 baby corns

Stock:
1 cup chicken soup base (home-made or commercially prepared chicken stock)
1 tablespoon soy sauce (add more if you need)
Chopped basil leaf (dried ones will do, abt 1 heap teaspoon)
1 sprig rosemary
salt and pepper to taste

Method:
  • Boil the stock.
  • When stock is boiling, add chicken wings and the vegetables.
  • When the stew boils, turn down the fire, and cook for 20 minutes.
  • Stir occasionally to make sure that the stock and ingredients blend well.
  • If you prefer a thicker stock, add cornstarch water.
  • Dish Up!

Attending Graduation

Ah Na has finally graduated with a Dip in Nursing! Moi came down from Nilai to attend the graduation.

Our family attended the graduation as well.

It was quite a happy occassion. Papa called as well to ask her to work hard (Papa does not do that often....)

More Sunny Days

Over two years now, my life has been punctuated with much psychological and emotional difficulties. Countless battles and wars inside, fleeting thoughts conquering my minds, and unknown fears haunting me from time to time.

Can I claim that promise that "Fear Not! For I am with you"?

Over the years, I applied this promise in moments of physical harm and danger. Had never thought how the Mighty One can be with me in times of emotional distress. To me, emotional turmoils are merely weaknesses of not trusting God enough.

Clinging on to God's promise in times of psychological trouble proves to be the right way. Now, I experience more sunny days in my life.

I should have said that I am well, and I do not know what is stopping from doing that.
I ask myself, "why do I hold on to anxiety as a friend?"
"NO, I don't. I see it as an enemy, but it preoccupies my mind all the time."

Paul talks about renewal of the mind. I think that is so true. I need to focus my minds on things rather than anxiety.

I am so thankful for the sunny days.

Sunny Days Ahead!

Blogging again

Five months have passed since I last blogged.

Hmmm....

I was too busy and preoccupied with responsibilities and duties - a mother, a student, a worker, a daughter, a wife, a human.... (not in order of preference or importance)

School was over in mid-April, but didn't have the mood to blog. I hope the blog will be out because I could not find it few months ago. What a shame.....what happened?

Now that my life is more settled, I will begin to blog again lah.
